Captomer
Captomer (DMSA) is an oral chelating agent. To chelate means to bind to heavy metals. Once bound they can be carried out of the body through the kidneys.
Heavy metals chelated by DMSA include Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Copper, Cadmium, Nickel, Thallium and Antimony.
If you weigh 120 lbs two tablets three times daily.
If you weigh 180 lbs three tablets three times daily
Dosing is in cycles.
It is taken for four days followed by ten days off.
The chelating action of Captomer is enhanced by Vitamin C.
One gram of Vitamin C should be taken three times daily.
Possible adverse reactions can occur when the Captomer removes the mercury from where it is stored in the body. Some patients will experience fatigue and irritability. This may occur after a few cycles.
