Heavy Metal Detoxification
Captomer (DMSA) is an amino acid that is an oral chelating agent. To chelate means to bind to heavy metals. Once bound, the metals can be carried out of the body through the kidneys.
Heavy metals chelated by DMSA include Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Copper, Cadmium, Nickel, Thallium and Antimony.
If you weigh 120 lbs two tablets three times daily.
If you weigh 180 lbs three tablets three times daily
Dosing is in cycles.
It is taken for four days followed by ten days off.
After four weeks (two cycles) you may have a urine test to determine how much heavy metals are being excreted.
Vitamin C 1000 mg should be taken three times daily before meals. the Vitamin C should be taken every day without a break.
Avoid constipation while taking Captomer. You must have a bowel movement at least once daily. A bulk laxative such as Epsom salts can be used.
Possible adverse reactions can occur when the Captomer removes the mercury from where it is stored in the body. Some patients will experience fatigue and irritability. This may occur after a few cycles.
